"This seated figure of Chisho Daishi Enchin is enshrined in his mausoleum, the To-in Daishido Hall.Named Chuson Daishi due to its placement in the central altar's shrine, the statue retains the original coloring in the pattern of distant mountain ranges decorating its monastic robe and kesa cape.

It replicates Enchin's physical features, including his oval, pointed head, black eyebrows drawn with fine lines, red-rimmed pupils, red lips, and shaved beard.

Originally housed at Senju-in (Sanno-in) on Mount Hiei, Enchin's former base of activities, it was moved to Miidera in 993.Today, as a secret Buddha, it is unveiled on October 29, the anniversary of Chisho Daishi's passing and the day the Chisho Daishi Memorial Service is held."
